Fitness and Health

One of the end goals of fitness is to maximize an individual’s health. Over all fitness, which encompasses the physical, mental, and emotional well-being, lead people to live healthier lives. As fitness research shows, the leading causes of death such as heart disease and diabetes can be abated by simply doing regular physical activity.

Physical fitness, however, is more than just doing physical exercises. It is a combination of regular physical activity, sufficient rest for physical recovery, and balanced diet and nutrition. Through these three regulating factors, a person can resist lifestyle-related diseases, fulfill physical functions efficiently, and deal with emergencies successfully.

Methods for physical fitness vary. These include stretching, aerobic exercises, and resistance training. Stretching, which ranges from simple bending exercises to twisted movements, fully conditions the limbs and the muscles. Aerobic exercises or cardio-vascular exercises elevate heart rate over a continued period of time. Swimming, walking, hiking, running, and cycling are a few examples of aerobic exercises.

Lastly, resistance training, also known as weight training, makes use of weights such as weights found on gym facilities. Stretching and aerobic exercises, which do not usually make use of fitness equipment, can be supplemented by using gym equipment such as benches and dumbbells. Use of gym equipment, however, depends on an individual’s fitness goal or program.

Whatever the physical fitness method is, it will surely target muscle strength, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, or any of the health-related components. And of course, it should come with sufficient rest for physical recovery and balanced diet and nutrition to be really physically fit.
